Our Veterinarians
Dr. Chris Bleifuss
Dr. Chris Bleifuss received his degree from the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine in May of 1982. He established the practice here at Kronenwetter Veterinary Care in the summer of 1985. Initially, Dr. Chris practiced on both farm animals (primarily dairy cows and horses) and pets, which was a typical mixed practice of the time. In 1991, Dr. Chris transitioned Kronenwetter Veterinary Care into a strictly small animal practice. From the beginning, the guiding principle of Kronenwetter Veterinary Care has been
to try and take care of each patient as if they were our own. Dr. Chris is married with three children, and a variety of pets ranging from fish, to snakes, dogs, cats, and the occasional gerbil or two. |

Dr. Nikki Wills
 |
Dr. Nikki Wills received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine in 2001. She joined Kronenwetter Veterinary Care on November 1, 2005 after practicing in Stevens Point for four and a half years. A love of horses and small animals was the motivation behind pursuing a career in veterinary medicine for Dr. Nikki, but Wisconsin winters convinced her that small animal medicine was the warmer path to follow. Dr. Nikki grew up in Amherst, WI. Her childhood was filled with many animals and related activities; a love learned from and shared with her family. She participated in 4-H and the Little Britches Rodeo, where she was once crowned Rodeo Queen. After veterinary school, Dr. Nikki moved back to Amherst where she lives with her husband, Jacob. They own three horses, two dogs, five cats, an umbrella cockatoo and some fish. Dr. Nikki enjoys camping (with and without her horses), trail riding, participating in dog agility, generally being outdoors and spending time with her family. Jacob can sometimes convince her to go fishing also, especially if the dogs can come along.

Dr. Katie Niksich
|
Dr. Katie Niksich grew up in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan on her family’s small farm. She enjoyed showing livestock, especially beef cattle, at the county fair each summer. She received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities in 2002 and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Michigan State University in 2007. She is also in the final stages of earning a Master’s degree in Veterinary Public Health. Dr. Katie spent one year in mixed animal practice, working mostly with cats, dogs, and dairy cows. She transitioned to solely small animal practice after moving to the Wausau area in 2008. In veterinary school, she was very involved in vaccine/spay/neuter clinics in underserved areas. One of these clinics was particularly life changing when she adopted a malnourished puppy she named “Sprout.” Although “Sprout” is all grown up he deepened her understating of the human-animal-bond. Dr. Katie enjoys taking long walks with her husband and “Sprout,” running, reading, Sudoku, and helping her dad on the farm.
